Joe McNally was in town shooting a lighting video on

dance for Kelby Training. He travels heavy with a lot

of gear and light shapers. He started the shoot with a

local dance company, the 605 Collective. He’s one

of the first to shoot with a Nikon D4.

McNally’s Blog

Just got a lovely mention on Joe McNally’s blog.

He is very supportive of the people that assist him

and he willingly shares everything he knows about

the business. A really nice guy who has 35 years of

amazing images under his belt. He just finished teaching

at The Vancouver Photo Workshops. I spent the day with

him and the guys from Landyachtz boards.

Lots of great info on his site. He’s a great writer and

busy shooter. Several books for sale on Amazon too.

Joe McNally and Longboarders

A fun day with Joe McNally shooting B camera for his upcoming

Speedlighter DVD. Only Joe McNally would hang out of a van

on his belly at 50mph with strobes clamped to the van door.

A few priceless spills during the day made this all worthwhile.

The footage out of the van was shot with the camera hanging

upside down, only 6″ from the road on a 7D. I had a monitor

plugged in to help guide my framing.
